Therefor there is a lot of geothermal activity on the area and many Hot springs in Nesjavellir. It is really important that if you wish to visit a Hot spring do not start hiking without a tour guide or at least without consulting with the reception at the hotel first. As written in the hiking chapter there is also a Hot spring in Reykjadalur near Hveragerði. There are several hiking trails and roads that lead to and from Reykjadalur valley.

FISHING

Fly-fishing, surrounded by the characteristic Icelandic topography of lava fields and moss, hot springs, snow capped mountains, crystal clear waters and the purest air on earth.
Þingvellir was accepted on the World Heritage list for its cultural values in 2004 at World Heritage Committee meeting in China. Þingvellir National Park was designated by a special law on the protection of the area, passed by the Alþingi on 7th May, 1928.
At Þingvellir is Þingvallavatn lake, located only 1 kilometer away from the hotel. The lake is the second largest lake in Iceland and reaches 114m at its deepest point. The brown trout (salmo trutta) in Lake Þingvallavatn has long been one of the most talked about freshwater fish in Iceland – and abroad. This beautiful fish is primarily known for its large size and great numbers. Records show that it was not uncommon to catch 20 to 30 pound (9 kg to 14 kg) brown trout. The brown trout’s origin can be traced to Britain, before the Ice Age. After it became isolated in Þingvallavatn its living conditions benefited its survival and proliferation.
Be advised we practice fly-fishing only and in protection of the specie we practice catch and release when fishing brown trout at the lake.

The fishing season is from April – September 15th.
Fishing hours from 7-23
Fishing gear and guide is available for additional cost
